Welcome and thanks for visiting my Rich Davis Music web site!
Please take some time and try to see everything. There's a lot to see and hear throughout this site, but I'll try my best to guide you through it all. As you can see I've been doing this for a long time now, and I have quite a large collection of songs and videos from the various great bands that I've been part of.
So, I hope you enjoy your visit, and if you like what you see please tell a friend.
Well, to put it simply - its just a $10 plastic mask I bought at a Halloween store. But to me, the mask symbolizes a very dark time and a connection to past experiences.
What I've tried to do with the mask is to use it as a recurring theme throughout some of my songs. The very first time you see me in the DVD "Not Dead Yet" is the video "Re-Animated" as I introduce myself as "your nightmare" and I'm wearing the mask as a belt buckle. This is pure evil - the very worst in somebody. As you go further into the DVD, you will see some form of this character appear even for just a split second.
For "Mantra", this whole song is about the trying to calm the brain. The less you think the less the mask shows in my nightmares. Me relaxing in the tub and the next thing I know the mask tries to drown me. The shot where I'm holding the neck from my broken Gibson flying "V" in my hand, and then the reflection in the chrome elevator wall. All show the effects of someone who suffers from some kind of past trauma. Continue reading
In the "Not Dead Yet" DVD cover art you'll notice that the mask in hanging on the corner on the tomb stone. For this I was thinking "ok I've been through a very dark time and I made it through it all (somewhat) unharmed." Broken "V" in hand, I push out of the ground. I can't be stopped, but there's the mask, symbolizing my scars. The mask represents may scars, and something I will always carry with me as I push forward.
"Tyrants of Armageddon" is more about where the USA is heading as a whole. In this instance, the mask is a real gas mask symbolizing total destruction. Obviously to a ridiculous extreme, but the point is the state of affairs in this day and age. In the song, I talk about our comander and chief "Mr. Trump" as I saying in the song "Tweeting words of distructions". Lets just say I wish it was a REAL gas mask.
All done with the mask. Now it's just going to hang on my wall. The nightmare is over! Now I see the light.Close
